The Ecosystem Services Database
The Ecosystem Services Database is a defining project in the history of the Ecoinformatics Collaboratory. It contains spatially-explicit, peer-reviewed valuation data as well as methods of analysis, publications, and projection models. Its novel architecture offers improved data retrieval and visualization capabilities as well as online analysis, aggregation, classification and projection.
The Ecosystem Services Database has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation and was inspired by an extended working group hosted and financed by the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis.
The main access page for the ESD is esd.uvm.edu. Please spend some time exploring the ESD through its interactive tutorial.
We are actively planning the next steps in enabling the assessment and projection of the value of ecosystem services. The evolution of the ESD concept and community is the ARIES project, which is described in a separate page on this site.
